In 1972 Joe Boskovich entered into a partnership which included his present partner, Tony DuMoulin. DuMoulin Boskovich is a successor of that original law firm and Joe is still a senior litigation partner at the firm. He has worked for more than twenty years as a litigator with a diverse range of experience in the Provincial, Supreme and Federal Courts.

Currently, Joe's practice focuses on the area of personal injury law, where he acts for both plaintiffs and defendants and their insurers. He also has extensive experience with fishing and maritime law - a natural outgrowth of both his own and his family's long involvement with the British Columbia fishing industry. In particular, he has expertise in the area of licensing, partnerships and offenses pursuant to the Fisheries Act and Regulations.

During the last decade Joe has become active in mediation, an increasingly popular and effective form of dispute resolution. In 1985 he completed the mediation training course given by the National Centre for Mediation Education, Washington, D.C., and is accredited by the British Columbia International Arbitration Centre. He has also attended advanced mediation courses at Harvard Law School and Osgoode Hall Law School, as well as workshops in San Francisco and Chicago put on by the American Defence Institute. He has participated in workshops focusing upon the design of multi-party negotiation processes, aboriginal interests, cross-cultural dynamics, structuring complex multi-party agreements, and sexual harassment cases.

Joe has mediated more than 2,000 cases involving wrongful dismissal, personal injury liability claims, disability insurance disputes, commercial contracts, professional negligence, construction disputes, family matters, corporate shareholders disputes and matters involving crown corporations and Ministries. He also sits as a commercial arbitrator.

Joe is a member in good standing of the B.C. Mediators Roster Society, and is listed in the BCICAC list of arbitrators. Joe is also a member of the civil litigation, maritime and alternative dispute resolution sub-sections of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the Joint Committee on Dispute Resolution. He has often spoken at Continuing Legal Education Seminars on the topics of negotiating and mediation, and coaches on the topic at PLTC.

Joe was born in Vancouver, and earned a Bachelor of Arts and his law degree at the University of British Columbia. Joe and his family are devout skiers. He is a long time member of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and has served for a number of years on its executive. Joe also holds memberships in the Canadian Ski Association, the Canadian Ski Coaches Association, and the Canadian Masters Alpine Association.
